Macy Alaine Albarico, a 24-year-old youth leader and environmental advocate, representing Barangay Singcang-Airport, is this year’s Miss Bacolod MassKara.
Albarico, who took home P150,000 in cash prize, sash, and bouquet, also received the Miss Congeniality award at the grand coronation last night at STI-West Negros University gymnasium, besting 14 other candidates in a competition that celebrated beauty, intelligence, character, and community pride, the organizer said.
It was her message on creating more opportunities for Bacolodnons during the crucial Question and Answer round that won the panel of judges.
Asked what she would change for the city, Albarico drew from her personal experiences of facing closed doors and the challenges of finding opportunities. “…I have had a lot of experiences already where there are doors that close on me. If I were to pull a string for this city, that would be the strength of opportunities.”
A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Financial Management, Albarico said she balances her public service responsibilities with her work as a BPO agent.
Julie Mikayla Borja of Barangay Mansilingan was named first runner-up and bagged P100,000 in cash, sash, and a bouquet. She also won a slew of awards, including Best in Talent, Best in Festival Costume, Best in Gown, and Darling of Social Media.
Ma. Zonora Ellyssa Curaza of Barangay Sum-ag won as second runner-up and the Miss Photogenic award. She took home P50,000 in cash, a sash, and a bouquet.
Lourdeth Codico of Barangay Bata was named Best in Swimwear, while Kyla Aligaga of Barangay Pahanocoy was Best in Production.
Reina Caspe, on the other hand, won the Best Gown Design, worn by Anne Margarette Ymballa of Barangay Taculing, while Aaron Spencer Marin bagged the Best Festival Costume Designer worn by Borja.
