The Bacolod City Veterinary Office (BCVO) has confirmed Sept. 3 four additional cases of the African swine fever (ASF) in three barangays of the city.
Two of the new cases were recorded in Barangay Cabug, while Barangay Estefania registered one confirmed infection.
The fourth case was logged in Barangay Handumanan after a pig tested positive during a random blood sampling as part of routine surveillance at the AVM Bernardo Slaughterhouse.
“The BCVO continues to strengthen its surveillance, monitoring, and disease-control measures to promptly detect and prevent the spread of ASF,” assistant city veterinarian Marie Janine Sarthou said.
The office urges hog raisers and stakeholders to strictly enforce biosecurity protocols and fully cooperate with their monitoring teams. | TMD
