Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) operatives confiscated approximately 112 grams of suspected shabu, worth P761,600, and arrested two high-value individuals, including a former Criminology student, during buy-bust operations in the cities of Bacolod and Sagay Aug. 19.

The first operation took place at San Juan Street in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod, where Police Station 9 operatives arrested a 19-year-old former Criminology student, and seized about 52 grams of suspected shabu, amounting to P353,600.

Investigation revealed that the suspect regularly handled 25 to 50 grams of the illicit drugs per transaction, and accepted payments via GCash.

Meanwhile, personnel of the Sagay City Police Station conducted a buy-bust in Barangay Poblacion 1, and arrested an appliance collector, 30, from Barangay Tadlong.

Operatives seized 60 grams of suspected shabu, worth P408,000, from the suspect and learned that the latter sourced the contraband from Bacolod.

Both suspects are in police custody and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PRO-NIR director, Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, commended the operating units and reaffirmed the office’s aggressive stance against illegal drugs. “Every successful operation reflects our firm resolve to suppress the illegal drug trade and protect our communities. We will continue to pursue drug personalities through intelligence-driven operations and ensure that those who violate the law are held accountable.” | TMD
