A Grade 9 student of Julio Ledesma National High School in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental was stabbed on Tuesday, June 23, prompting school and police authorities to strengthen security measures and monitoring efforts to prevent incidents of youth violence.

In a statement, the administration of Julio Ledesma National High School (JLNHS) clarified that the stabbing incident occurred outside the school premises.

Before the incident, the student had informed his class adviser about a perceived threat.

In response, the adviser instructed the learner not to leave the school campus while efforts were being made to contact the student’s parent or guardian.

However, despite the precautionary measures, the student allegedly left the campus against the adviser’s instructions.

Earlier that day, JLNHS conducted class debriefing sessions, devoting two periods to discussions on safety, awareness, and learner well-being.

School officials said they are coordinating with authorities as the investigation continues. | GPB
