The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) is mobilizing 3,119 security personnel from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3 to ensure a safe, peaceful and orderly observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

The deployment will include 1,773 police personnel, 340 personnel from other units, and 1,006 force multipliers.

Police presence will be heightened in cemeteries and columbaria, places of worship, major thoroughfares, transportation hubs and tourist destinations, particularly in areas expected to draw large crowds.

In a statement, the PRO-NIR said its personnel will be placed under full alert status during the period.

Checkpoints will be established in strategic locations, while regular mobile patrols will be conducted to deter criminal activities and monitor security conditions, according to regional police spokesperson Lt. Col. Joem Malong.

Police Assistance Desks will be set up in cemeteries and columbaria to assist visitors and respond to their concerns.

The police operation will be in coordination with local government units, law enforcement agencies, emergency responders and force multipliers to enhance police visibility, facilitate traffic management and ensure prompt response to emergencies and security incidents.

PBrig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, regional police director of NIR,  said crime prevention and public safety remain as top priorities during Undas.

He called on police personnel to remain alert, disciplined and ready to respond to the needs of the public, stressing the importance of protecting lives and property and crime prevention.

Reales also urged the public to remain vigilant, secure their belongings and immediately report suspicious activities.

He reminded those visiting cemeteries and memorial parks to observe safety precautions, follow traffic and safety regulations, and cooperate with police and other authorities.

The public may report emergencies or suspicious activities to the nearest police personnel, police station or Police Assistance Desk. | GPB
