A motorcycle rider died when he crashed into the rear of a parked dump truck along the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway in Barangay Vista Alegre early morning yesterday, Aug. 4.
Police identified the victim as Alvin Laraya, 24, of Barangay Mansilingan in Bacolod.
Initial investigation of the Bacolod City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit showed that the Isuzu dump truck, driven by alias “Agustin”, 43, of Barangay 8, Victorias City, was traversing the economic highway at around 3:15 a.m. when the driver, upon reaching Purok Star Apple in Barangay Vista Alegre, pulled over to the side of the road with his hazard/parked lights turned on to inspect the vehicle.
Moments later, he reported hearing a loud impact at the rear of his truck.
The police said that Laraya, who was driving a Yamaha Nmax motorcycle, crashed into the back of the stationary dump truck. The impact threw him onto the pavement, causing fatal injuries.
The truck driver is currently in police custody for proper disposition. | TMD
