Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) identification cards may soon remain valid for five years instead of three, following the House of Representatives’ approval of House Bill 8876 on third and final reading.
Sponsored by Negros Occidental Sixth District Rep. Mercedes Alvarez, the proposed measure aims to ease the burden on millions of Filipino professionals who currently must renew their professional identification cards every three years during their birth month.
Under HB 8876, all newly issued and renewed PRC IDs will carry a five-year validity period.
Alvarez said the proposed law will reduce red tape, reduce renewal expenses, and ease congestion as it relieves high demand and appointment backlogs on the PRC’s online system and branch offices.
The solon said HB 8876 is currently pending deliberation in the Senate, after it got the overwhelming support of the House of Representatives. | GPB
