The Bago City in Negros Occidental has recognized Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) for its dedicated efforts in restoring electricity to communities affected by Typhoon Tino, honoring the company during the Pasidungog kag Pagkilala ceremony on July 1, at the Community Center in Barangay Poblacion.
Through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), the local government presented Negros Power with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of the company’s significant contribution to the city’s disaster response and recovery operations.
The award highlighted Negros Power’s commitment to restoring power services despite difficult conditions brought about by the typhoon, helping ensure that affected residents regained access to electricity as quickly as possible.
Engr. Leomel Tambanillo, assistant vice president for planning and business operations of Negros Power, accepted the recognition on behalf of Negros Power.
“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition from the city government of Bago. This award belongs to every Negros Power employee who worked tirelessly, often under difficult and hazardous conditions, to restore electricity and help communities recover after Typhoon Tino,” Tambanillo said.
He also expressed gratitude to the local government for its trust and collaboration throughout the emergency response.
“We sincerely thank our local government partners for their trust and collaboration. This recognition inspires us to continue strengthening our emergency response capabilities and remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering reliable power service, especially during times when our communities need us the most,” Tambanillo added.
Bago City officials said the recognition underscores the crucial role of utility providers in disaster response, particularly in restoring essential services that enable communities to recover more quickly after calamities.
The award also reflects the strong partnership between the city government of Bago and Negros Power in promoting disaster resilience through coordinated emergency response and rapid power restoration efforts.
Negros Power reaffirmed its commitment to further enhancing its emergency preparedness and response programs, emphasizing that restoring electricity goes beyond repairing damaged power lines — it is an essential step in helping communities recover, rebuild, and move forward after disasters. ||
