The Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) Program of Philippine Health Insurance Corp. was launched in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental recently.

This ensures that more NegOrenses, especially those in need, gain better access to life-saving medicines and continuous medical care, the Capitol said June 17, adding the launch of GAMOT marked another important step toward the full realization of Universal Health Care in the province.

It also strengthened Governor Manuel “Chaco” Sagarbarria’s vision of bringing quality and accessible healthcare closer to every NegOrense, it added.

Through the GAMOT Program, qualified members under the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) can receive for free up to P20,000 worth of essential outpatient medicines per year, helping ease the financial burden of families with loved ones suffering from chronic and acute illnesses.

PhilHealth acting regional vice president Jenet Ann Advincula said that Negros Oriental currently has 51 YAKAP clinics, 26 GAMOT providers, and three cancer screening providers.

This reflects the province’s growing healthcare network and readiness to deliver expanded medical services to communities, she added.

Residents are encouraged to register with their preferred YAKAP clinic to begin availing of the program’s benefits, the Capitol said. ||
