The Bacolod City Police Office filed rape with homicide charges against the two suspects in the killing of teenager Freya Mae Go before the City Prosecutor’s Office on May 29.
In a report, the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said persistent and methodological police work led to the identification of the suspects, with aliases of “Jac” and “Bry”, both residents of Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City,
The charges stemmed from the extensive investigation conducted by PRO-NIR into the death of the 17-year-old victim, who was an on-the-job trainee at AVA Construction Supply.
The victim’s body was discovered on a vacant lot at the Reclamation Area in Barangay 12 on Oct. 22 last year.
Investigators pursued every lead, meticulously gathered evidence, conducted in-depth case build-up operations, and worked closely with the prosecution service. These sustained efforts ultimately resulted in the filing of charges against the identified respondents, bringing the case a significant step closer to judicial resolution, the PRO-NIR said.
PBrig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, acting police regional director, commended the investigators and personnel involved for their dedication, professionalism, and perseverance throughout the course of the investigation.
“The filing of this case demonstrates PRO-NIR’s unwavering resolve to ensure that perpetrators of heinous crimes are held accountable,” he added. | GB
