A total of 241 beneficiaries received financial assistance amounting to P1,301,400, under the Kalahi-CIDSS’ cash-for-work (CFW) program, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region said.
The 100 percent payout under the TheraFee Project provided much-needed support for the medicines, food, education, daily necessities, and other household expenses of the beneficiaries, the DSWD-NIR said.
The CFW program not only provides temporary employment and income opportunities but also empowers PWD beneficiaries by giving them dignity, hope, and opportunities to improve their quality of life, it added in a press release May 15.

This year’s Therapy for Fee (TheraFee) Project is a new initiative of the DSWD, aiming to support family and community members caring for PWDs with high support needs by incentivizing their duty as care workers through the CFW.
Care workers supporting PWDs with high support needs may engage in the program for a maximum of 90 days per year and a maximum of eight hours of work per day. The scope of work or services may include basic activities of daily living (BADLs), such as assisting PWDs with high support needs in bathing, dressing, eating, using the bathroom, grooming, or transferring from one place to another.
Instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), like meal preparation, medical management, housekeeping, managing finances, shopping, transportation, communication, and companionship may also be performed by the beneficiaries.
The rendered service is compensable, based on the prevailing regional daily minimum wage rate, the DSWD said. “By empowering care workers and strengthening family support systems, we also improve the quality of life of PWDs who rely on them every day. This program is about dignity, inclusion, and ensuring that no one is left behind.” ||
