Illegal drugs, a firearm, and ammunition were seized, and a 43-year-old suspect arrested, in a police operation July 3 in Barangay Combado, Bacong town in Negros Oriental.
A report from the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said that alias “Nger-nger”, of the barangay, was apprehended after Bacong Municipal Police Station operatives implemented a court-issued search warrant.
They seized 23 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a caliber 9mm revolver, seven rounds of 9mm live ammunition, and three rounds of caliber .45 ammunition.
The operation stemmed from a blotter report involving a local dispute, with the suspect allegedly threatening to kill the complainant during a rooster-matching activity.
Police report showed the suspect went home after the heated argument then returned with a revolver, and pointed it at the complainant.
The police conducted casing, surveillance, and firearms verification, which provided the evidence needed to secure the search warrant from the court, the PRO-NIR said.
“Nger-nger” is now under police custody and faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
“PRO-NIR will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations and ensure that individuals who violate the law are arrested and brought before the courts,” P/Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, director of the police in the region, stressed. | TMD
