The Commission on Elections-Negros Island Region (Comelec-NIR) has recorded 206,042 new voter applicants two weeks before the registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) ends on May 18.
As of May 2, Negros Occidental has the highest registrants at 141,714; Negros Oriental, 60,487; and Siquijor, 3,841, records show.
The Comelec Register Anywhere Program was availed of by 1,186 new voters. It is a program designed by Comelec for new voters to register outside of their communities.
The 2026 BSKE is scheduled Nov. 2 this year, with the filing of certificate of candidacy set from Sept. 28 to Oct. 5.
Election period is slated on Oct. 3 to Nov. 9. | GB
