An additional 3,409 tricycle drivers in Bacolod each received P5,000 during a payout April 24 and 25, the city said April 27.

Bacolod’s Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) head Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga said the payout was carried out under the directive of Mayor Greg Gasataya, following a review of appeals submitted by tricycle drivers, who were excluded from the first round of fuel subsidy distribution.

During the initial payout, 9,617 drivers received the cash incentives, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 13,026 tricycle drivers across the city.

Verdeprado-Mangga emphasized that all the drivers who formally filed their appeal with the DSSD were accommodated.

“The payout last Friday and Saturday covered all tricycle drivers, who submitted their documents. Our office endorsed these applications to the Department of Social Welfare and Development,” she explained.

The DSWD is responsible for validating the submitted documents for national government funding, finalizing the list of beneficiaries, and leading the payout, in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office.

The drivers thanked the city government for acting on their appeals, noting that the subsidy provides much-needed relief amid the rising fuel costs.

The city government ensures that national government’s assistance reaches qualified beneficiaries in a timely, inclusive, and efficient manner. ||
