A man linked to a large-scale investment scam was shot to death by a lone gunman in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, April 21.
The victim, Henjie Cuadra, 40, succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head, the police said.
Cuadra and villlage councilor Novem Arnido were having a drinking spree at Hershey’s Store on Lopez Jaena Street in Barangay 2 when the lone gunman arrived, and open fired at him.
Arnido was hit by stray bullet in the hand, the police said.
The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Holy Mother of Mercy Hospital in Hinigaran.
Two bullet shells and a deformed slug believed to be that of 9mm pistol were recovered by the police at the scene of the incident.
Police records showed the victim had a criminal record for syndicated estafa related to his involvement in a large-scale investment scheme. | GB
