Seventy-five learners completed the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, with the graduation ceremony July 24 at the SCC Multipurpose Hall Park Marina, on the theme, “Filipino Graduates: Prepared to Lead with Competence and Character”.
The graduates include 72 junior high school completers and three elementary completers, who successfully finished their respective ALS programs, the city said in a press release July 25.
Education Program supervisor and CLMD Regional ALS focal person Nonito Guanzon said the graduation celebrates the perseverance, determination, and hope of every ALS learner, noting that the graduates brought pride to the city by completing their education despite financial challenges and responsibilities at work and at home.
He added that their certificates symbolize not only academic achievement but also their courage to overcome life’s challenges, while the knowledge, skills, and values they gained through the program will help them become responsible citizens and future leaders in their communities.
Secondary Level ALS passer for CY 2012 and Natuyay Elementary School teacher Mercy Baculpo encouraged the graduates to continue pursuing their dreams despite delays in their education, reminding them that everyone succeeds in their own time.
She thanked the ALS teachers for their unwavering guidance and encouragement in helping learners complete their studies.
On behalf of Mayor Renato Gustilo, city administrator, Atty. Estefanio Libutan Jr., congratulated the graduates for successfully completing the program, saying they demonstrated discipline, humility, respect, and faith throughout their ALS journey and encouraged them to continue pursuing their aspirations, reminding them that it is never too late to learn and achieve success.
Assistant schools division superintendent and officer-in-charge Heidelyn Geromiano, Curriculum Implementation Division chief Jessie Batosin, School Governance and Operations Division chief Maria Cristina Bahinting, education program specialist II Jovel Leduna and Maila Goron, Councilor Victoriana Cabili, Office for Human Resource Management head, Atty. Ma. Chat Delima-Cordero, Libutan, and Guanzon led the distribution of medals and certificates. ||
