The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) will enforce a week-long gun ban in Bacolod City, in line with the celebration of the 30th Panaad sa Negros Festival.
PLt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the PRO-NIR, said the gun ban takes effect from 12:01 a.m. of April 13 to 11:59 p.m. of April 19, which is the duration of the week-long festivities.
The Panaad sa Negros Festival, being held at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, is dubbed as the province’s “festival of all festivals”.
Malong said the suspension of firearm permits in Bacolod City aims to ensure the safety and security of everyone.
She encouraged the cooperation of the public to ensure crime-free festivities.
The Bacolod City Police Office is mobilizing about 100 police personnel to manage security and traffic outside the festival grounds aside from augmentation forces coming from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and PRO-NIR headquarters. | GB
