4 NIR cops honored

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) recognized on Monday, Feb. 23 four police officers for their exemplary performance and significant accomplishments in anti-illegal drug operations and arrest of most wanted person.

PRO-NIR Director PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay led the awarding rites and conferment of medals to outstanding police personnel at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.

PLt. Col. Antonio Benitez, former chief of the City Drug Enforcement Unit of Bacolod City Police Office, and PCpl. Arnel Legaspi were awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan.

The award was in recognition of their successful anti-drug operation on Jan. 12 in Barangay Mandalagan, which led to the arrest of two drug personalities and the recovery of 1.14 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P7.779 million.

PLt. Shella May Edon and PSSg Julius Medel Tampus received a similar medal for their exemplary performance as personnel of Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Siquijor Police Provincial Office regarding the successful manhunt operation against a wanted person at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, Pasay City on Jan. 23.

This resulted to the arrest of a Malaysian most wanted person.

The recognition of the distinguished personnel reflects PRO-NIR’s firm resolve to strengthen its campaign against illegal drugs and ensure the arrest of individuals who threaten peace and order, the PRO-NIR said in a statement. | GB
