Malacañang has declared today, Feb. 19, as a special non-working day in the City of Bago in Negros Occidental, for its 60th Charter anniversary.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of Bago be given the full opportunity to participate and enjoy the celebration,” Proclamation 1156, signed by acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto states.

The Supreme Court also suspended work in the first-and second-level courts of Bago in celebration of the diamond celebration.

“The courts shall have sufficient staff members to act on urgent requests for bail, orders of release, writs of habeas corpus, and similar urgent reliefs,” the SC said in a post Feb. 18.

The Bago City Traffic Management Division, meanwhile, announced road closures in line with the city’s celebration today.

From 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. during the Charter anniversary parade, the rotunda in Barangay Sampinit will be closed to public utility vehicle (PUV) and buses.

The DC Cruz – General Luna Street and corner High School-Rizal Street will also be closed. A similar road closure will be implemented in the afternoon, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the Bugana Festival street dance competition.

From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., kilometer 22 to DC Cruz along General Luna Street will be closed for a concert, while the Bantayan Park will be closed to all types of vehicles from 5 p.m. onwards, the city said.

The diamond charter celebration is themed “Better, Brighter Bago @ 60”, it added. | CGC
