Over 100 barangay tanods across Bacolod City have been officially deputized by the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD) to implement the city’s traffic ordinance and related regulations.
BTTMD officer-in-charge, Atty. Reuben Sabig, said a city ordinance grants deputized personnel the authority to issue citation tickets, and confiscate driver’s licenses.
Sabig clarified that this local enforcement power operates separately from the mandates enforced by the Land Transportation Office.
The latest batch of 67 tanods from barangays Tangub, Alijis, Bata, Vista Alegre, Handumanan, Banago, and Pahanocoy were deputized after an earlier group of 40 personnel trained in past months.
Sabig added that personnel of Megaworld’s The Upper East were also trained for deputization.
Selected personnel will undergo a one-day training-seminar focusing on their specific duties and enforcement responsibilities. | TMD
