One of the two minors, who survived the stone attack in Silay City, Negros Occidental, remains in critical condition, four days after the violent incident, Mayor Joedith Gallego said on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Gallego said police investigators have already a person of interest, who is possibly still hiding in the area.

“We appeal for witnesses to come out and help authorities in giving justice to the victims,” he said.

While the elder sister is in critical condition, the younger brother has already recovered, the mayor said.

The cash reward has risen to P100,000 for information on the identification and arrest of the suspect behind the attack in Hacienda Badiang, Barangay E. Lopez that led to the death of a nine-year-old girl and injuries of her two siblings.

Negros Occidental Third District Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez offered P50,000 while Gallego and former Talisay City Vice Mayor Samuel Siote are willing to give P25,000 each.

The three minors, who were alone in their house, were attacked and hit with a stone by the still unidentified suspect, according to police investigation.

The nine-year-old girl was declared dead on arrival at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City while her two siblings were transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.

Gallego said a donor also gave P60,000 to the family of the victims. | GB
