Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Monday, Feb. 9 that the P600 overnight parking rate imposed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport is “painful” for travelers.
Mounting complaints have been aired about what is considered an exorbitant rate after it increased from P200 to P600.
The Bacolod City Council has sought the intervention of Lone District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on the issue.
“Even the P200 is painful for travelers,” Lacson said.
The parking rate was also increased, from P8 to P25 per hour, which took effect in January.
Lacson said he is hoping that Congress will bring the rate down, noting that the parking rate at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila also increased. | GB
