The municipality of Mabinay in Negros Oriental has committed to donate nearly five hectares of land to the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) for the establishment of a regional facility.
Mayor Ernie Jango Uy told DSWD officials in a meeting last week that the parcels of land to be donated is near a high school, the Rural Health Unit, and the municipal nursery, and is close to Ibulan Spring, ensuring a reliable and sufficient water supply.
Uy added that the land is ready for transfer to the DSWD, subject only to the passage of a municipal resolution, which has received a positive response from the Sangguniang Bayan, indicating strong legislative backing for the donation.

DSWD-NIR director Arwin Razo, together with DSWD undersecretary Fatima Aliah Dimaporo, and lawyer Tricia Clare Oco of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council met with Uy and members of the SB to discuss the proposed land donation and the establishment of a regional facility in the municipality.
Razo said in a press release that the land to be donated “is strategic and ideal for the construction of a regional facility due to its accessibility and proximity to major highways.”
He confirmed that funds for the project’s construction have already been allocated, with the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled next month, marking the official start of the development and underscoring the partnership between the DSWD and the municipality.
The DSWD thanked the LGU for its strong support and cooperation, which reflects a shared goal of improving the delivery of social welfare and development services to communities across the Negros Island Region. ||
