Former marine soldier nabbed for illegal discharge of firearms

A retired member of the Philippine Marine Corps was arrested for illegal discharge of firearms in Barangay Balingasag, Bago City, Negros Occidental on the evening of Dec. 24.

The 43-year-old suspect, believed to be under the influence of liquor, was reported by his neighbors to the police after they heard gunshots inside his residential compound.

At the scene of the incident, personnel of Bago City Police Station recovered an Armscor caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing six ammunition, another magazine containing 13 ammunition, an empty magazine of the same gun, and 34 fired cartridges of caliber .45 pistol.

In a statement, PLt. Col. John Ganzon, officer-in-charge of Bago City Police Station, encouraged the public to immediately report to the authorities any untoward incident in their neighborhood. | GB
