Crime volume in Negros Island Region (NIR) dropped by 1,289 incidents in the past 11 months this year compared to the same period in 2024, its report on Friday (Dec. 12) showed.

Total crime volume from January to November 2025 totaled only 9,614, from the previous year’s 10,903.

These reductions highlight strengthened operations, enhanced police visibility, and sustained community operation, a report of PRO-NIR said.

NIR is composed of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.

In Negros Occidental, crime volume decreased by 11 percent in the same period.

A report of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office showed crime incidents from January to November this year went down to 2,708, compared to 3,037 in the same period last year, with a decline of 329 incidents.

Index crimes, which include murder, homicide, rape, robbery, physical injuries, theft and carnapping, decreased by 24 percent, from 482 in 2024 to 371 this year. | GB
