Farmer shot dead; lightning strikes worker

A farmer was shot to death by two men on board a motorcycle in San Carlos City while a laborer died after he was hit by lightning in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, police reports showed.

The 73 year-old-farmer was declared dead at a hospital after he was shot by the unidentified assailants at Sitio Talave in Barangay Punao on Nov. 24.

Initial police investigation showed the victim had just disembarked from a passenger vehicle when he was shot.

He succumbed to injuries in the abdomen and right side of the face.

The police is reviewing a closed circuit television footage to help them identify the gunmen.

A 52-year-old laborer died on Nov. 24 after he was hit by a lightning at his residence in Sitio Unob, Barangay Nanunga.

According to police report, the victim was sitting at the bamboo terrace and leaning on a mesh wire when the lightning struck him. | GB
