A suspected drug personality was injured when he resisted arrest during a police operation at Purok Langis in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City on Friday (Oct. 24).
He attempted to grab the firearm of a policeman and accidentally discharged it, hitting the left side of his face.
The incident took place after Police Station 3 operatives, who were about to serve a warrant of arrest in the area, chanced upon three persons engaging in illegal drug transaction, a statement from the Bacolod City Police Office said.
Upon noticing the approaching law enforcers, one of the suspects, later identified as alias “Joe”, threw away an item.
He then resisted arrest and got injured when he attempted to take the policeman’s gun.
Alias “Joe” was brought to the nearest medical facility for treatment.
Police recovered an estimated six grams of suspected shabu valued at P40,800 and a .38 caliber revolver.
The injured suspect’s two companions are now under police custody, pending the filing of charges against them for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearms. | GB
