Robert “Robi” Thomas Martinez secured two gold medals at the recent Ho Chi Minh Open Kendo Tournament 2026, marking a transition from his previous national double-bronze results.

Martinez won his first gold in the Individual category before earning a second gold alongside the Negros Team in the Men’s 3-Team category.

His medals contributed to an overall championship victory for Negros Shiseikan, which won seven out of the tournament’s nine categories.

The Negros Occidental-based organization concluded the international event with nine gold medals, one bronze, three championship plaques, and one Fighting Spirit Award.

“From Negros Occidental to Vietnam, Robi’s comeback and the team’s historic performance reflect the dedication, discipline, and fighting spirit of the entire Negros Shiseikan family,” coach and sensei Jowash Saballero said. | TMD
