The municipality of E.B. Magalona in Negros Occidental has retained its status of being a drug-cleared and drug-free municipality.

The declaration was made by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROC-BOC), following its online deliberations on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The ROC-BOC reported the retention of drug-cleared status of 22 barangays and one drug-free barangay status under the administration of Mayor Matthew Louis Malacon.

In a statement, Malacon attributed the town’s drug-cleared and drug-free status to the collaboration of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Philippine National Police, municipal government, and concerned government agencies.

The strategy involves the whole-of-government and whole-of-community approaches in addressing illegal drug activities at the barangay level.

The ROC-BOC deliberations was

participated by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer VI Pierra Lamayo, PLt. John Symon Salvani, Secretary to the Mayor Joel Antonio, and the town’s village chiefs. ||GB
