The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University community provided warm meals to 256 families, with 991 individuals, from Barangay 27, Bacolod, staying at Apolinario Mabini Elementary School (AMES) after surviving a midnight fire Sept. 12.

CHMSU students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners prepared chicken and pork adobo, along with pork sotanghon soup, fruits, and banana muffins Sept. 18, to culminate the five-day “CHMSUyanihan: Pagtabang sa Nasunugan” donation drive held across the Alijis, Binalbagan, Fortune Towne, and Talisay campuses.

The campaign, which ran from Sept. 12 to 17, raised a total of P37,469.55 in cash donations through GCash, the CHMSUyanihan booth, room-to-room campaigns across all four campuses, and contributions from generous donors, who reached out to the organizers.

The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University students and teachers preparing the meals provided Sept. 18 to residents of Barangay 27, Bacolod, who were affected by a recent midnight fire.

The CHMSUyanihan team also distributed essential items, such as new undergarments, body soap, hygiene products, detergents, housewares, and cleaning supplies, its press release said.

Children staying at AMES also enjoyed the fun games hosted by students of CHMSU.

The campaign was organized by the Center for Internationalization and External Relations and the Federation of CHMSU University Student Government, in partnership with Art Relief Mobile Kitchen, Ang Paglaun Multipurpose Cooperative, and Caritas Bacolod Social Action Foundation Inc.

The “CHMSUyanihan: Pagtabang sa Nasunugan” culmination at AMES was conducted, in coordination with Bacolod’s Department of Social Services and Development. ||
