A 30-minute ash emission from Kanlaon Volcano on Wednesday (Sept. 10) generated grayish plume up to 600 meters above the crater, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
It was the second time Kanlaon Volcano spewed grayish ashes since Sept. 8.
Ptolemy Manego, science research assistant stationed at Phivolcs Kanlaon Volcano Observatory, said despite the two events of ash emissions, they have not recorded any seismic activity.
He added that some Phivolcs personnel were dispatched to the areas of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto, where the ash emissions drifted to check if there were ash falls.
As Alert Level 2 prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, entry to the four-kilometer permanent danger zone is strictly prohibited.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued a notice to airmen for flights near Kanlaon Volcano, with vertical limits from the surface to 10,000 feet.
The latest notice will take effect until Thursday (Sept. 11).
CAAP advised flight operators to avoid flying close to the volcano due to possible hazards of sudden explosive eruption and ashfall. | GB
