Operatives of the Bacolod Police City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested a drug suspect and confiscated about 70 grams of suspected shabu, worth P476,000, in a buy-bust operation in Purok Sto. Rosario, Barangay Bata, at around 12:10 a.m. Sept. 9.
The suspect, alias “Marjo”, male, single, unemployed, of Barangay Bata, is now under the CDEU custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The buy-bust operation, led by CDEU chief, P/Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez Jr., is part of the relentless anti-illegal drugs campaign of the Bacolod City Police Office, as it gears for the expected surge of the supply of drugs during the MassKara Festival celebration next month.
BCPO director, P/Col. Joeresty Coronica, had said the police will be on heighted alert against the possible proliferation of illegal drugs supply meant for the festival.
He stressed there is no letup in the campaign against illegal drugs, as BCPO units have been conducting operations every day.
“The BCPO remains steadfast in its commitment to intensify its anti-illegal drugs operations, and calls on the public to continue supporting law enforcement authorities by providing timely information that will aid in the fight against illegal drugs in Bacolod,” its Public Information Office said yesterday. | CGC
