NegOr guv elected chairperson of NIR Regional Dev’t Council

Negros Oriental Governor Manuel Sagarbarria has been elected as the inaugural chairman of the Negros Island Region-Regional Development Council (NIR-RDC) on Wednesday (Aug. 13).

The NIR-RDC, which was convened in Dumaguete City for its full council and sector committee organizational meeting, also elected Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson as chairperson of the economic development committee, with Christina Marie Gaston of the Association of Negros Producers as co-chairperson.

Lailyn Ortiz, officer-in-charge of the Department of the Interior and Local Government-NIR, was designated as chairperson of the development administration committee, with Carmenia Benosa of Little Children of the Philippines Foundation Inc. as co-chairperson.

Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria was named as chairperson of the infrastructure development committee, with Eduard Du of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry as co-chairperson.

Canlaon City Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas was chosen as chairperson of the social development committee, with Profetiza Lim of Negros Oriental Union of Cooperatives as co-chairwoman.

Siquijor Governor Jake Vincent Villa also attended the activity.

The list of the NIR-RDC elected officials are up for submission to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for final appointment. | GB
