Law enforcers seized some P40.8 million worth of suspected shabu, and nabbed a high-value individual in a buy-bust in Negros Oriental early Tuesday, July 15.
Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), told the Philippine News Agency that the suspect, alias “Pao”, a resident of Barangay Camanjan, Dumaguete City, yielded six kilos of shabu during the operation at about 12:33 a.m. in Barangay Sto. Niño, San Jose town.
Seized from the suspect were suspected shabu packed in six plastic packets and found in a backpack.
This is the biggest drug haul in Negros Oriental this year, he said.
“The suspect was under close surveillance and intelligence monitoring for a long time and is believed to be a drop-off point (bagsakan) for illegal drugs coming to the province,” Polinar said.
The suspect is allegedly operating in the 2nd District of Negros Oriental, he added.
The operation was mounted by the Provincial Drug Enforcement/Intelligence Unit, NOrPPO, Regional Intelligence Division of the Negros Island Region Police Office, San Jose Municipal Police Station, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. ||
