Farmers may now resume carrying out necessary activities inside the six-kilometer extended danger zone of Kanlaon Volcano after the suspension was lifted by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Thursday (June 26).

This was after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) noted a reduction in volcanic quakes, from a highest of 67 last week to only four as of Thursday, 5 a.m. while sulfur dioxide flux was recorded at 2,382 tonnes as of June 25.

Farmers and residents of affected communities have been given by the OCD a window time, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., to carry out farming and other essential activities within the extended permanent danger zone.

Phivolcs also noted continued ground deformation at Kanlaon Volcano, which remains under Alert Level 3. | GB
