An octogenarian accidentally shot his wife dead in Sitio Santa Maria, Barangay Orong in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Thursday night, Nov. 5, the Kabankalan police said.
The suspect, Pablito Gonzales, 80, is nowhere to be found, as of this time.
Police investigation showed that Gonzales was awakened by the barking of dogs, and he tried to wake up his wife, Erlinda, 76, but instead found a pillow beside him.
Gonzales then saw a stranger in the house and shot the alleged intruder in the head, the police said.
When he turned on the light, he discovered that he had shot his wife, the police added.
Erlinda was declared dead on arrival at the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City.
Meanwhile, Romeo Naquita, alias Agi, 62, who was involved in a stabbing incident, was arrested by the police in Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Saguabanwa, Valladolid, Negros Occidental on Friday.
The police said Naquita stabbed Elsan Ganancial, alias Totsi, 24, in his chest, with a bladed weapon.
The victim was released from the Valladolid District Hospital while the suspect is now detained at the custodial facility of the Valladolid Police Station. -GPB
