Two suspected New People’s Army (NPA) leaders who died in a series of encounters in Barangay Tapi, Kabankalan City had pending arrest warrants for murder, according to a statement issued by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO).

Charity Amacan had 11 arrest warrants for murder while Reniel Cellon faced four counts of murder charges.

Both were former secretary and commander, respectively, of the dismantled South East Front.

Their deaths are expected to significantly enhance the crime solution efficiency of the NOCPPO as charges against them are now classified as solved, bringing long-awaited justice to their victims through their identification and neutralization, provincial director PCol. Ranier de Chavez said.

The NOCPPO statement also said that Mary Jane Maguilat had been confirmed to have an arrest warrant for violating the Commission on Elections gun ban.

NOCPPO is also undertaking a thorough validation process to determine whether the remaining four other slain rebels identified as Jhon Isidor Supelanas, Jhunrey Mejares,  Glendel Tinio Mejares, and a certain “Pitong” have existing criminal records in Negros Occidental. | GB
