The week-long anti-drug operations in Western Visayas led to the arrest of 48 drug suspects and the recovery of P6.8 million in illegal drugs, according to a report of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).
From March 1 to 7, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) recorded the biggest combined seizure of illegal drugs, reaching P6.6 million.
The arrest of 48 drug suspects in 36 anti-drug operations yielded 975 grams of suspected shabu valued at P6.63 million and 1.9 kilograms of suspected dried marijuana leaves worth P239,000.
In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, lauded the series of successful operations of the anti-drug units in the region.
“Our accomplishments on the illegal drug campaign show our hardwork and unwavering commitment. We remain strong and unyielding in our position that illegal drugs has no place in Region 6,” Wanky said.
All the arrested drug suspects were already charged in court for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
The BCPO and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office are still under the supervision of PRO-6, pending the activation of PRO-Negros Island Region. | GB
