The total crime volume in Negros Occidental dropped by 518 incidents in the past 11 months compared to the figures in the same period last year, a report of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) showed.
The number reduced by 12.81 percent, from 5,043 incidents in the past 11 months last year, to only 3,523 this year.
Also compared to 2023, the eight focus crimes were lower by 250 cases, or 37.65 percent, from January to December this year.
In a report, the NOCPPO noted a reduction in eight focus crimes, composed of murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, carnapping of vehicles, and motorcycles theft, from 664 last year to only 414 this year.
Murder incidents dropped from 147 to 135; homicide, 49 to 38; physical injuries, 48 to 31; rape, 217 to 105; theft, 134 to 60; robbery, 51 to 38; motorcycle theft, 17 to six; while only a single carnapping incident had been recorded this year. | GB
