Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Thursday (Oct. 10) he thinks “the more, the merrier” as he is challenged by four opponents in his reelection bid during the May 2025 elections.

Those who also filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) for governor are former Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino, Jonathan Paul Octaviano of Partido Lakas ng Masa, and independent candidates Ferdenand and Ernesto Librando.

Diego is a farmer from Candoni; Octaviano, an architect by profession from Victorias City; and Librando, a businessman from Calatrava.

The governor said he is not surprised that Palanca filed his COC on the last day of filing on Oct. 8.

“I’m leaving it to the decision of the Negrenses,” Lacson said, adding that he is confident that he has served well during his first two terms as governor. | GB
