The first three days of the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the May 2025 elections in Western Visayas has been relatively peaceful, according to the Philippine National Police.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director, said that they have not monitored any untoward incident in the region.
On Friday (Oct. 4), he visited the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, the venue of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for accepting documents from candidates.

Wanky, who also attended the blessing and inauguration of the Silay City Police Station headquarters, said the Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC) will convene to assess the peace and order situation in the region, after the end filing of COCs on Oct. 8.
It will be the RJSCC which will identify the possible election areas of concerns for the 2025 midterm elections, he added.
Wanky issued an appeal to candidates to control their supporters who may accompany them when they file their respective COCs.
Policemen have been deployed in all Comelec centers to maintain order, he added. | GB
