Based on records, there were 270 reckless imprudence incidents, of which involved were 95 motorcycles, 89 cars, 31 trucks, 19 public utility vehicles, 10 tricycles, four electric bikes, and one bicycle.
Among the accidents, 179 were classified by the BCPO as damage to property, leading to 75 physical injuries and 16 homicides or deaths.
In a statement, the BCPO said the significant number of physical injuries and fatalities underscores the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures and public vigilance.
It also urged all drivers to take proactive steps to avoid becoming victims of traffic incidents, by always adhering to traffic rules.
“Avoid distracted driving, practice defensive driving, conduct regular vehicle maintenance and wear seatbelts,” it added.
While the BCPO is committed to enhancing road safety and reducing traffic incidents through increased patrols and enforcement of traffic regulations, it also urged public cooperation to create a safer driving environment for everyone. | GB
