Almost a week after 15-year-old Pearl Joy Galve was found dead inside a sugarcane field in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, her stepfather, Rene John Nacis, who was insinuated to have been involved in her death, surfaced yesterday.

Nacis, who is now under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bacolod Field Office, denied any involvement in Galve’s death.

He said he came forward to clear his name.

In an interview with RMN DYHB, Nacis strongly debunked insinuations that he was involved in the death of his stepdaughter, who was reported missing on July 29.

He claimed that he went to Iloilo before Pearl Joy was found dead on Aug. 14 due to problems with his live-in partner, Jennifer Galve, the mother of the victim.

Jennifer alleged that her daughter had been molested by Nacis.

A reward of P50,000 is being offered by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for any information that could lead to solving the crime. | GB
