25 new dengue cases recorded in Neg. Occ.

Negros Occidental logged 25 more dengue cases, including nine in highly urbanized Bacolod City as of March 30, according to reports from the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health and Development.

With such increases, Negros Occidental now has a total of 275 cases from January to March 30 this year, 54 of which are recorded in Bacolod City, the DOH reports show.

However, no death was reported in both areas in the same period.

In the entire region, dengue cases in Western Visayas have almost reached the 2,000 mark. It logged 1,979 cases in the first three months of the year, compared to 1,836 cases, in the same period last year, or an of eight percent, the report added.

The fatalities remained at three.

The DOH report also noted an increased attack rate of dengue in Antique, Capiz, Iloilo and Guimaras, while 26 barangays in the region have clustering of dengue cases. | GB
