A total of 212 employees of the provincial government of Negros Occidental were terminated from their respective jobs either due to poor performance or for using illegal drugs.
They included 97 job order (JO), 92 contract of service (COS), and 23 plantilla casual employees, according to the data from the Provincial Administrator’s Office.
Among them were 30 watchmen assigned at the Capitol Security and Safety Division.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said yesterday that to ensure that public services will not be hampered, the provincial government is hiring personnel to replace the vacancies left by those who were laid off.
“We are now in the process of interviewing new applicants” he added.
Diaz said that they have good candidates to fill up the vacated positions.
With the full operations of the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary, Negros Residences, and Food Terminal Market of Occidental Negros, the province will hire more employees to be deployed at the establishments under the Economic Enterprise Development Department, he said.
Diaz noted that the Department of Tourism has already accredited the Negros Residences, while they are still complying with the requirements for accreditation of the Mambukal Resort and Food Terminal Market. | GB
