San Carlos, UST holding medical, surgical mission

The San Carlos City government, in partnership with the University of Sto. Tomas, is conducting a joint 5-day medical and surgical mission until Jan. 12 at the San Carlos City Hospital.

More than 500 beneficiaries from the city and neighboring localities of Calatrava, Escalante, Canlaon, Vallehermoso, Don Salvador Benedicto, and Isabela availed of free minor, major, optha (eye) surgery and consultation offered by 80 UST doctors.

SCCH administrative officer Charlen Pol Bistis-Anlap said the program was headed by Mayor Renato Gustilo, and aimed at providing healthcare services to the community, especially among the vulnerable sector.

Aside from surgery and consultations, the beneficiaries will be given free follow-up checkups, vitamins, and medicines to help with their full recovery, the city said in a press release.

Gustilo, Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona, City Health Officer Dr. Arniel Laurence Portuguez, Councilor Armando Laguda Jr., Canlaon City Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas, Vallehermoso Mayor Marianne Gustilo, Calatrava Mayor Marilyn Era, and 79th IB Masaligan Battalion commander, Lt. Col. Arnel Calaoagan, also checked on the status of the medical-surgical mission. ||
