Four micro cooperatives in Negros Occidental severely affected by Typhoon Odette received financial assistance from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), under the Special Assistance for Recovery and Alleviation Program.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and CDA Assistant Secretary Myrla Paradillo led the turnover of assistance to the beneficiaries, in a program held at the Brgy. 9 covered court in Kabankalan City Feb. 17.
The recipient-coops that received P100,000 each were the Gil Montilla Agrarian Reform Cooperative, San Jose Villa Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and the Sitio Flora Agrarian Reform Cooperative. The Pulupandan Transport Sector Consumers Cooperative received P50,000, a press release from the Capitol said.
The CDA program aims to help the micro coops recover and rise amid the challenges of climate change.
Lacson thanked the CDA for its committed effort in promoting the sustained growth and full development of the cooperatives.
“Today’s distribution of financial assistance will further our goal to strengthen the capacities of our people, as an empowered people is the basic element of development,” he added.
Also present in the activity were 6th District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, and CDA Region VI director Nora Patron, among others. — NND
