NegOcc frontliners to be honored Nov. 5

The heroes in the campaign against COVID-19 in Negros Occidental will be honored during the al Cinco de Noviembre celebrations at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City on Friday.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer will lead the awarding rites at 6 p.m. on Nov. 5, after the traditional flag raising ceremony in the morning.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the provincial government will honor frontliners in the COVID-19 campaign, for their contribution to the health and wellbeing of Negrenses.

This is the reason why they are the awardees in the Cinco de Noviembre celebration, Diaz added.

The awardees are the COVID-19 response teams of the 31 local government units, Hospital Operations Department, Provincial Health Office, Disaster Management Program Division, Information Communication Technology Division, Mambukal Resort, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade, Bureau of Fire Protection-Negros Occidental, Philippine Coast Guard-Negros Occidental, and Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental-Bacolod City Chapter.

Without a team effort, it is very difficult to defeat COVID-19, Diaz stressed. “It’s really a team effort of all the awardees,” he added.

Dr. Ma. Girlie Pinongan, HOD chief, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, and Pontevedra Mayor Jose Maria Alonso will give the responses, in behalf of the awardees.

Prior to the awarding program, Lacson will lead the flag-raising ceremony at the Provincial Capitol and Lagoon Park, with the Philippine Flag to be hoisted by soldiers of the 303rd IB and the Boys Scout of the Philippines-Negros Occidental chapter.

P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, deputy spokesperson of the NOCPPO, will lead the Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas, to be followed by the blessing and launching of Biyahe Kusina (mobile kitchen) and turnover of projects, including that of the Negros Occidental Parole and Probation Coordinating Center and the Association of Negros Producers.

The USLS Maskara Theatre Ensemble will have a tableau presentation, while the Negros Occidental Singing Ambassadors will lead the prayer, Pambansang Awit, and Negros hymn singing. — GB
