The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bacolod is rolling out daily safety checks across all festival sites throughout the MassKara Festival 2026 to guarantee strict compliance with fire prevention guidelines.
This as BFP Bacolod fire marshal, F/Supt. Jenny Mae Masip, led fire inspectors in checking 128 kiosks around the public plaza Oct. 2.
“Daily inspections will be conducted by the BFP across every kiosk because we will never be tired in reminding the kiosk owners, for the safety of everybody,” Masip said.
The Bureau has deployed 40 dedicated inspectors, split equally between the two major venue hubs, with 20 personnel stationed at the plaza and 20 assigned around the Bacolod City Government Center grounds to conduct simultaneous inspections.
During the initial sweep yesterday, fire safety inspectors examined the electrical appliances and emergency equipment at the food kiosks.
Kiosk owners are restricted to a maximum power load of 40 amperes for electrical appliances, and are required to keep an operational fire extinguisher on site at all times.
Masip said routine monitoring aims to mitigate electrical overloads and potential fire hazards as crowds gather to celebrate the MassKara Festival. | TMD
