A series of intensified police operations on Aug. 6 led to the arrest of 75 persons linked to various criminal offenses, the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region said in a report.

Arrested were 42 wanted persons, 12 drug personalities, 11 illegal gambling violators, and 10 engaged in illegal fishing.

In the campaign against illegal drugs, operatives seized 239.5 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1.628 million as well as P1,281 in illegal gambling bets.

“These operations were carried out through the coordinated efforts of provincial and city police offices in intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical enforcement actions, PLt. Col. Joem Malong, PRO-NIR spokesperson, said.

Malong said the large-scale law enforcement operations were undertaken as part of the simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation, a flagship program of the Philippine National Police, which is strategically coordinated to target a broad range of criminal activities, including arrest of wanted persons, seizure of illegal drugs and unlicensed firearms, dismantling of illegal gambling operations, and the enforcement of various local ordinances. | GB
